DAR members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share the common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States.

Any woman 18 years or older - regardless of race, religion or ethnic background - who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.

Why Should You Join
Being a member provides opportunities to serve our community, to pursue personal interests, to learn about American history and how it has affected our individual family histories, to work cooperatively with other women and other organizations, to gain leadership skills, and to develop friendships with other women committed to both heritage and service.
How Do You Find a Patriot?
The NSDAR maintains and continually updates a public database and research libarary in Washington, D.C.. to aid you in your search for a Patriot. As a prospective member, our Registrar is your main point of contact until your application is complete. We do not require that you know who your Patriot is to complete the application process to become a prospective member.
